High
Performance, Cost-Effective Storage Clusters
InfoStation
is "Cluster Ready"
Server OEMs
often recommend SAN solutions for cluster applications with
several hosts. However, a SAN can be a costly, complex and even
an excessive solution for many organizations. A single storage
enclosure capable of supporting up to four server clusters (up
to 8 hosts per chassis), while also being upgradable for possible
future SAN implementation, is the ideal solution for organizations
not currently requiring the investment in a SAN.
InfoStation®
provides secure, high-availability disk storage and supports
a variety of storage/server cluster applications by providing
these product features:
- Supports
up to eight direct server attachments.
- Optional
plug-in I/O Repeater Modules enhance signal integrity and allow
host interfaces to be added as applications grow.
- Unique
dual SCSI I/O design allows 25-meter maximum point-to-point host
connection.
- No internal
cables or SCSI bus-splitting hardware required, allowing ease
of implementation and minimized points of failure.
- "Failed"
host can be "hot swapped" without system downtime or
loss of data.
- Tested
with Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS) clustering utility.
- Enclosure
can be easily upgraded later for SAN applications, making InfoStation
a smart investment in the future.
Basic Cluster Components

If the Primary
Server fails, the Backup Server automatically takes over the same
disk volume. The I/O Repeater Module plugs into the backplane creating
a single disk channel and connecting both the Primary and Backup
Servers for a high-availability cluster. The I/O Connector allows
the InfoStation to be daisy-chained to another enclosure or terminated.
